SUSTAINABLE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE  NEEDS A STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

 

As a co-author of the Association for Strategic Planning's Strategic Planning and Strategic Management Body of Knowledge 2.0, we believe in the Five foundational components which make up ASP BOK 2.0.They represent the standards that planning professionals must know in order to be credentialed by ASP and build upon ASP’s mantra of “Think-Plan-Act.”These components include:

 

  • Lead - Strategic Leadership includes the role definition of strategy practitioners.  It emphasizes planning for change as a primary job of leaders; at a basic level, the focus is on leading through facilitating a strategic planning team.  It includes the personal characteristics and interpersonal skills required of an effective practitioner.

  • Think - Strategic Thinking covers the “content, processes and infrastructures” supporting the analysis and evaluation elements of strategy management that precedes planning. 

  • Plan - Strategic Planning centers on the “content, processes and infrastructures” for deciding the right strategy for success.

  • Act - Strategic Action and Change focuses on the “content, processes and infrastructures” for executing the strategy and measuring performance.

  • Business Acumen – This component covers the roles, ethics and general business knowledge strategy practitioners must possess to be effective.
